Con un'autonomia dichiarata da record, 11 ore, il nuovo N140 si posiziona tra le soluzioni top di gamma della serie N di Samsung.
N140 è un netbook a cui non manca nulla: look attraente, ottime finiture e assemblaggio, connettività completa e portabilità elevata. L'unico neo? La superficie lucida del lid che, aimè, tratterrà senza pietà tutte le vostre impronte digitali.
Per quanto riguarda l'hardware esistono due versioni, contraddistinte da due diverse product key: KA per la versione che equipaggia Windows XP Home, JA per la versione con Windows 7 Starter. Quest'ultima è consigliabile, in quanto venduta con hard disk più capiente (250 GB contro i 160 GB della versione XP). Completano la dotazione il processore Intel Atom N270 a 1.6 GHz affiancato da 1 GB di RAM e dal chipset Intel 945GSE.

... Although the Samsung N140 blazes no new netbook trails, we can't knock it. It looks good and it's well-made, but its battery life is its outstanding feature. If you need a low-cost netbook that can last all day away from the mains, look no further.

A first glance around the bodywork and through the specs tells us there’s nothing new to see here. But closer examination shows a fractional upgrade in wireless connectivity, along with a step back in usability with the new recessed trackpad buttons. The Samsung N140 is a very good netbook that continues Samsung’s run of higher quality netbooks, but unless 802.11n wireless is essential to you, we’d advise you to also look out for a cheaper and more comfortable NC10 or N110 model.

At last Samsung have just gone ahead and replaced the NC10 with something better, rather than try to cook up yet another endless variation on the theme. The N140 takes all the good bits of the NC10 but adds a larger HDD, a bigger battery and a more modern operating system and some other bits and bobs like draft-n Wi-Fi and stereo speakers and then squeezes them all into a slightly smaller and lighter package but without much of an increase in price. ...
In conclusion the Samsung N140 is a great machine for computing when away from home or if you are happy to have a smaller screen.
The battery life is amongst the best available right now. The combination of screen, keyboard, and good CPU power (for a netbook) make this a very useful device.
I’d recommend upgrading the RAM to 2 GB if you intend to run multiple programs at the same time.
I’ve had mine for two months now and when away from home have no regrets about leaving my main laptop behind.

... Battery life is pretty good, especially comparing it to the fact that my Precision lasts me 2-2.5 hours tops. I have used the system on and off through the entire day and I am currently typing this particular blog entry from the netbook and it still has another 4 hours of battery life remaining. The keyboard is comfortable to use and typing is a breeze. ...
